Heads UP! is
a K-6 school show approved by the NSW Department of Education and Training
that provides children and teachers a heads up into the world of the Deaf
and their language – Auslan (Australian Sign Language).
The show promotes diversity and difference, and raises students’ awareness
levels and appreciation of people with disabilities, as one of the actors is
Deaf. The
vibrant & energetic show combines Auslan, dance, sign-singing, Aboriginal
Dreamtime, improvisation, masks, Deaf culture and a Q&A session. Heads
UP! is tailored to
meet the K-6 curriculum in the areas of CAPA (drama and dance), English, PD/H/PE, HSIE and (LOTE)
and has played to huge acclaim
since opening in 2003.

UP! HIGH
-
Heads UP! HIGH
extends Heads UP! for a more mature audience exploring challenging
social themes using a myriad of dramatic skills.
Shakespeare is turned upside-down in Romeo & Juliet's struggle
between the Deaf and hearing worlds. Famous poems are
transformed into inspiring visual and dance movements while comedy and drama are
crisply presented through Vaudeville. Auslan, sign-singing and improv test and
develop student skills which are enhanced through the TAJ Workshop.

UP! Cabaret
Heads UP!
Cabaret
is the adults only version of Heads UP!. Enormous fun, Heads UP!
Cabaret has delighted adult audiences at Bangarra Dance Theatre and many community venues.
Heads UP! Cabaret can make a great
night really special and your audience will not only be entertained but will
actually learn something too! Heads
UP! Cabaret works particularly well with a fundraising dinner but can
be used as a headline
act in itself.
